ABOUT EMPOWERING GRASSROOTS

Thus, it is important to empower the grassroots to effect real social change. Grassroots organizations are important because constructive change rarely occurs or lasts when it comes from the top down. Activities of grassroots organizations are associated with bottom-up decision making rather than top-down.Grassroots groups can develop new solutions for existing problems and make use of both local governments and citizens for this. In both resource-rich and resource-poor contexts, grassroots organizations can develop an alternative neighbourhood-based voice that challenges prejudice and the discrimination of the poor.

HOW ME WORK

We use the term “grassroots development” to describe the process by which disadvantaged people organize themselves to improve the social, cultural and economic well-being of their families, communities and societies. The non-profit sector in India has grown exponentially during the previous two decades. Grassroots NGOs, in particular, can participate in the decision-making processes of the communities with which they serve, allowing them to effect long-term good change.
